KAITANI RETAINS LOMAIVITI FIJIAN FIJIAN COMMUNAL CONSTITUENCY

Simione Kaitani of the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) has again retained his seat from the Lomaiviti Fijian Provincial Communal Constituency.

Mr Kaitani was declared the winner over two other independent candidates and a candidate from the Nationalist Vanua Tako Lavo Party (NVTLP).

Mr Kaitani retained the seat with a majority of 5109 votes over Jone Kauvesi an independent who managed 920 votes, Filise Baleinakoro (NVTPL) 136 votes and Iliesa Tora independent with 44 votes.

The number of ballot papers counted was 6906 and the number of valid votes was 6209 against 696 invalid votes.

The number needed for a majority was 3106.
