RAGIGIA RETAINS SUVA CITY FIJIAN URBAN COMMUNAL

The Suva City Fijian Urban communal seat has been retained by Mataiasi Ragigia of the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) party.
Returning Officer Central Inoke Devo just made the announcement an hour ago at the Suva Grammar school count centre.
Mr Ragigia at the first count scored 7,205 votes ahead of six candidates from the Fiji Labour Party, National Alliance Party, New Labour Party, Nationalist Vanua Tako Lavo, National Federation Party, an independent and another SDL candidate.
FLP’s Josaia Waqabaca had 675 votes, while NAP’s Apete Naitini had 760 votes. Akuila Bale an independent had 142 votes, Miriama Cama had 157 votes, NVTLP’s Semi Uluivuya had 46 votes and SDL’s Peni Volavola with 880 votes.
The number of total ballot papers counted was 10,435 with invalid ballot papers being 570 leaving the total number of valid papers at 9,865.
The number of voters required for majority was 4,934.
