MATAIRAVULA RETAINS TAILEVU SOUTH FIJIAN COMMUNAL

Former Minister for Public Enterprises and Public Sector Reforms, Irami Matairavula has retained the Tailevu South Fijian communal seat.

Mr Matairavula a candidate of the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) party had at the first count scored 6,722 votes, ahead of National Alliance’s Erini Saukelea 493 votes and independents Levani Tuinabua with 1046 votes and Akuila Raikoti with 59 votes.

The total number of ballot papers counted was 9,389 with invalid papers being 1,069 with valid papers being 8,320. The number of voters required for majority was 4,161.
