BUNE WINS LABASA OPEN SEAT

Fiji Labour Party’s Poseci Bune has just been declared by the Returning Officer Northern Misieli Naivalu as the winner for the Labasa Open seat – constituency 68.

He won with an absolute majority of 8066 votes, ahead of six other candidates.

Mohammed Sharif of the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) party had 80 votes, Siteri Gonelevu of the National Alliance had 273 votes, Koresi Matatolu also of the National Alliance had 5 votes, Semi Lutua of SDL had 265 votes, Timoci Bulitavu SDL had 3015 votes while Raman Pratap Singh had 1266 votes.

The total number of ballot papers counted was 13,895 while 925 papers were considered invalid leaving the total number of ballot papers counted at 12,970.

The number of voters required for an absolute majority (50% + 1) was 6,486.
