TWO MORE SDL CANDIDATES WIN

The Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) party’s Savenaca Draunidalo tonight retains the Lau/Taveuni/Rotuma open seat ahead of three other candidates from the National Alliance party and two independents.

Mr Draunidalo’s had 10,888 votes while National Alliance’s Fani Vosaniveibuli had 2,553 votes, Pio Naiqama with 223 votes and Ilisoni Taoba with 204 votes.

And in the Lami Open seat constituency number 55, Mere Tuisalalo Samisoni has won the seat with an absolute majority of 7,664 votes.

She wins ahead of National Alliance’s Benjamin Padarath 681 votes and Vilikesa Rauca 168 votes, Independents Eroni Ratuwalesi 36 votes, Jasper Singh 1087 votes and Esaroma Ledua 1,474 votes, FLP’s Filimoni Lacanivalu with 2260 votes, Nationalist Party’s Viliame Savu with 57 votes and UPP’s Lionel Danford with 303 votes.

The total of ballot papers counted was 14,813 with invalid papers being 1083 leaving the total number of valid papers at 13,730. The number of voters required for the absolute majority was 6,866. A total of 17,814 voters were registered in this constituency.
