LAL WINS VANUA LEVU WEST INDIAN COMMUNAL SEAT

Surendra Lal of the Fiji Labour Party (FLP) was declared the winner for the Vanualevu West Indian Communal constituency by the Returning Officer northern Mitieli Naivalu.

Lal was declared winner over three other candidates from the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL), National Alliance Party (NAP) and the National Federation (NFP) Party.

Lal won a majority of 4886 votes followed by the NAP with 950 votes and the NFP with 708 votes.

The number of ballot papers counted was 7193 out of which 6625 was declared valid against 568 invalid votes.

In addition, the number of voters required for a majority was 3313.
