SALABULA SECURES LAUCALA OPEN

After a recount from yesterday, Losena Salabula of the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) party finally secured the Laucala Open seat constituency number 52 ahead of the Fiji Labour Party’s (FLP) Vijay Krishna Nair.

At the fifth progressive count, Salabula with 7,856 votes won the absolute majority, while Nair had 7,845 votes.

At the fourth progressive count, National Alliance’s Manunivavalagi Korovulavula lost out on the fourth count with 1,515 votes, while National Federation’s Keshwan Nadan lost out on the third count with 638 votes.

Other candidates, Nimilote Fifita Party of Truth lost out on the first count with only 23 votes and Viliame Civoniceva an independent lost out on the second count with 63 votes.

The total ballot papers counted was 16,675 with less invalid papers being 974 leaving the total valid ballot papers at 1,5701.

The number of voters registered in this constituency was 19,774.
