Seats Won/Not Won on Preferences.

Thirty-six seats out of the national total of 71 were decided on preferences. This amounts to 50.7% of the total number of seats.

Of the 36 seats that were decided on preferences, 21 seats returned the same members as would have been the case in a straight first-past-the-post (FPP) contest. Fifteen seats returned different members as would have been the case under FPP.

Thirty-five seats of the national total of 71 were not decided on preferences. These seats were decided on the ‘first count.’ These seats therefore returned the same members that would have been the case under a straight first-past-the-post contest.
